Samsung has announced the new Captivate Glide smartphone for AT&T. Featuring 4G connectivity and a dual-core processor, the Captivate Glide also offers a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for text input.
The Captivate Glide is powered by a dual-core, 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and features 1GB of RAM. It has 8GB of internal storage, and supports microSD cards of up to 32GB in capacity. Like the Captivate from last year, the Captivate Glide has a 4-inch, WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) Super AMOLED display. Underneath the display is a slide-out, four-row QWERTY keyboard. Around back is an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, and 1080p HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) video recording, while up front is a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chats. The Captivate Glide supports AT&T's HSPA+ 21Mbps "4G" network, but it does not have LTE connectivity.
Samsung has installed Android 2.3 Gingerbread with its custom TouchWiz interface on the Captivate Glide. The Captivate Glide also supports a number of enterprise features, such as VPN, Exchange ActiveSync, and Mobile Device Management (MDM).
AT&T says that the Captivate Glide will be available for the holidays this year, but it has not announced an exact release date or price at this time.
